Abstract
The Generation of '98 is of great importance in Spanish and world literature. In China, many of these works were translated between the May Fourth Movement and the founding of the People's Republic of China, while the translations were stopped when dissemination was restricted. For a better understanding of this phenomenon, we will present the development of literature of the Generation of '98 in China and the West, and analyze reasons for the current paradox of the dissemination in China and Spain, with the content and context of these works taken into consideration. Finally, based on the dissemination of literatures in China and current needs of Chinese readers, viable paths for dissemination of the Generation of '98 literature in China will be provided.
