Abstract

The Chinese writer Guan Moye, or popularly known as Mo Yan, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2012,
makes his readers known in his short novel “Changes”, his autobiography. Unlike his other works with historical
overtones, which take place in 20th century China: “Red Sorghum”, “Big Breasts, Wide Hips”,
“The Ballads of Garlic” or “Life and Death Are Wearing Me Out” , where the characters are fictitious such as;
a family clan that grows sorghum, a brave woman with her eight daughters, garlic farmers, or a rich landowner
who dies and then is reincarnated as the animals on his farm; In this book, the main characters are the author
himself and his friends, who are real, ordinary people, who lived firsthand, the first decades of Chinese
communism.
