Book review: History of Chinese migration in Ecuador: between the diaspora and the development of the Belt and Road

Abstract

As a student of the relationship between China and Latin America, it is my interest to deepen the historical link
between China and my country of origin Ecuador. Within this research process I have reviewed several research works
with various points of view of the Sino-Ecuadorian relationship. Last year, the book “History of
Chinese Migration in Ecuador: Between the Diaspora and the development of the Belt and Road” was published,
which is one of the few research works that deal with the Chinese presence in Ecuador. It consists of three
chapters that cover more than two hundred years of history including: the Chinese diaspora overseas, Ecuador - China Relations,
19th century to 2022 and the projection of the historical maritime route of the 21st century: bilateral perspectives and opportunities
of the Belt and the Route.
